Rumor: Dual Touch Screen DS Releasing Early 2009
Rumor has it that the third version of the Nintendo DS will be hitting shelves early next year. This new DS will have slightly larger screens, but the biggest new feature is that both of the screens will be touch screens, allowing for players to use their stylus to interact with both the top and bottom screens.
This rumor seems completely ridiculous, but it kind of make sense when you think about it. This new DS would be compatible with all older DS software (just use the bottom touch screen). However, it would open up a whole new bag for game design and I think Nintendo would save a big feature like this for the real successor to the DS.
Even if this is real, don’t expect to hear any news of this till next year. Why would Nintendo want to hurt their holiday sales?

I wonder how this theory came about? It sounds really cool though!

Yeah it seems only natural that both screens should be touch screen. People that are not familiar with the DS will often try to touch the top screen with no effect. I don’t know what kind of games would use both screens but I’m sure some creative people will come up with something amazing.

But then why would they do that because they’d be excluding all the DS owners that already had DS’s before it came out. Unless games would work on all DS versions, but it just had more features for the newest DS version.

This rumor is so obviously fake and I think this will stay a rumor. If they’re going to do this, it should be for the DS successor.
Personally I don’t see the point of two touch screens. What could you possibly do with two touch screens that you couldn’t do with one?
