Grand Theft Auto IV First Impressions
June 19, 08 by Mark
Yes, I know I’m a little late to the party. Everyone else has had and played Grand Theft Auto IV for almost two months now. But I’ve only just got a hold of the game, so maybe I can persuade some of you who are still on the fence (I don’t know how, with all the positive hype swirling around the game). I’ve played about 5-6 hours of the single player and a couple multiplayer matches, so here are my first impressions of the game.
Grand Theft Auto IV is such an expansive game that a short summary of it could hardly do it justice. But I’ll try.
The game starts out with the main character Niko Bellic arriving in America to try to live the American dream. He quickly finds out that life in America isn’t as easy as everyone told him it would be and is forced to do some dirty jobs throughout Liberty City.
But don’t worry, you’ll never get bored in Liberty City. Every aspect of it feels like a living, breathing city. For example, you can visit locations in the city that vary from burger shops to pick up something to eat, to internet cafes to try your luck in an online dating service. There is always something to check out in the city.
And although I haven’t played very much of the game yet, I’m already in awe at the scope of the game. Rockstar has put very much love, care, and money into this game and it definitely shows. This game will definitely be taking up the bulk of my gaming time for weeks, if not months to come.

The motorcycle missions in this game are a real bitch. Luckily, I calmed myself down by having sex with prostitutes and getting lap dances from exotic dancers.

I’m really wondering if you will be playing this game for months to come. I personally started getting board with it about 3/4 of the way through the story. It starts out really good, looks wonderful, but after awhile the “wow” effect kinda wears off and some of the games flaws become more blatant. I think the missions got boring, especially the driving parts. Also the multiplayer sucks. Any way I’m wondering what you will think by the end.

So far, the game has me totally hooked but we’ll see.
I can see what your saying though; the same thing happened to me with Assassin’s Creed. It got a little repetitious by the end.

I do see what you mean with Ass Creed, but the science fiction plot kept me interested in that game. Once you learn the real reason Niko is in Liberty City, GTA 4 starts getting better and better. It is definitely the most hilarious game I have ever played.
