Playstation Home Delayed Again
Sony has just revealed that they will be delaying the release of Home once again. They will continue with the closed Home Beta through the summer and eventually release the Open Beta sometime this fall. We have heard this story over and over the past few years and I’m sure PS3 owners are getting sick of it. At this rate PS3 owners won’t be getting the full version of Home till about mid 2009, and, with the amount of delays Home has gotten, it may take even longer. The toted Xbox Live killer has taken far too long to come out and it doesn’t look like it can live up to the lofty expectations people are having of it.
For me, Home isn’t that big of an incentive to buy a PS3. I’m not one of those people who enjoy roaming around a virtual world playing with virtual representations of my friends. That’s what malls and parks are for. I understand it would be nice for people across the country (and I do have family in many corners of the U.S.) but I would much rather enjoy the movie watching aspect of Home with them. The concept of joining with friends into a room to watch a movie though is interesting, but I doubt I would actually use it very often. I find it hard to coordinate times to play games with my friends on Xbox Live, how could I coordinate a time where all of us have the same two hour block free? So, all in all, when I get my PS3 in the near future, Home won’t be a big factor in my purchase.

I have lost track of the numerous times Sony has had a delay, but I am elated to use Home.

It is hard to get into Home if you don’t own a PS3. I thought that was obvious.
